Sandpoint, Idaho is a Walkers Paradise!

by Yvonne Arnold on July 13, 2010

According to Walk Score.com, Downtown Sandpoint Idaho is a “Walkers Paradise”.

If you are thinking about buying a home in North Idaho, but don’t want to be “off the grid”, Downtown Sandpoint, Idaho is the place to look.

With the median home price currently at $155,000 it is affordable and the amenities are endless.  Within a 3 mile radius you have restaurants, wine bars, bike shops, kayak shops, shopping, music venues and don’t forget Lake Pend Oreille and the Pend Oreille River.

If boating is your thing, rent a boat slip at Sandpoint Marina and leave it there all summer, then whenever you feel like taking a ride, walk down to the marina and in no time, you’re boating down the River to the Willow Bay Resort for some “all you can eat crawfish” !

The Fesitval at Sandpoint happens every year on the first and second weekends in August at Memorial Field.  Musicians from every genre come into town and play to a group of approx 2,000 people who have toted their lawn blankets, chairs and icechests to the park.  This year we will be entertained by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Keb’Mo’, Natalie MacMaster, Michael Franti, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and The Spokane Symphony!

So if you want to spend a little less time in traffic and a lot more time enjoying life…come to Sandpoint, Idaho and start walking!

Don’t know what a “Strategic Default” is?

In a nutshell, it is when someone still has the ability to pay their mortgage (No loss of job, No Financial Hardship, No Medical Hardship) but stop paying because the home is not worth what they owe on it.

The reason Fannie Mae is coming down so hard on this type of Default is because it continues the instability of the market and causes home values to decline in otherwise stable areas.

What people must remember is that just because your equity declines on real property does not mean that purchase was a bad investment.  Values on Real Estate go up and down.  The recent problem is that people used their homes as a Multi-Level marketing scheme….Bad decision!

If anything has been made very clear in this current financial crisis is that Real Estate is a “Long Term”  investment. Read more about the changes being made.

Lost in the 50′s 25th Anniversary Sandpoint Idaho

by Yvonne Arnold on June 15, 2010

For the past 3 years I have been fortunate to particapate in the Lost in the 50′s weekend in Sandpoint Idaho. My friend Barb Merritt asked me a few years back if I would help her out by being one of the traffic controllers for the parade on Friday night.  I said sure, but could I dress up?  She said absolutely!  I’m not sure she knew what she was getting herself into…

The First year I actually made YouTube! Although is was mostly my rear-end shakin it to the oldies…hahaha!

YouTube Preview Image

Now after 3 years my animal print pants have  become a staple and since I’m getting a little older the glasses are getting bigger!

The 219 Sign you see on the old yellow truck actually came off the 219 Bar, now owned by Mel and Claudia Dick, they celebrated their 75th Anniversary last year with 24 hours of 75 cent drinks!

So, if you’re ever up in Sandpoint, Idaho around the second weekend in May and you want to have alot of fun.  Stick around for Lost in the 50′s…You never know what you might see!

Great information from CNN Money. “Remember there are 800,000 REO’s in the banks’ inventories, there’ll be another home to bid on tomorrow” Rick Sharga, Spokesman for Realty Trac I couldn’t agree with him more. Will there be a flood of properties put into the market? No, probably not, but there will be more. Buyers must [...]
